Tea Parties on the March

“A government of the people, by the people and for the people.” Do you think that phrase still describes our government … or has it become something else?

Has it become a government of an elite few? Has it become a government of people who feel entitled to tell all of us how we should live our lives? Not just tell us, but force us.

Many people look at where our government is going and use words such as communist, fascist, socialist, and Progressive.

None of those words are accurate, because every one of them is just the way a government justifies, and then implements, tyranny. The tyranny isn’t caused by socialism or communism, or fascism or Progressivism. It’s just totalitarianism dressed up for a masquerade ball. Is this where our country is headed?

Every law, regulation, and policy for the past 75 years is based on the assumption that you aren’t competent. That you need to be protected from your own stupidity. How often are government actions questioned, and the answer is “Well, it’s really too complicated to discuss.” Isn’t that a lot like saying “Don’t you worry your pretty little head about it.”?

And this has been going on for decades under the administrations of BOTH parties. Just look at how easily politicians change party affiliation! Do you think Arlen Spectre really feels any differently now that he’s a Democrat than when he was a Republican?

Now, I know that some of you here will say, “Hold on, there are some really good people in Congress.”

Of course there are. After all, we have the best Congress money can buy.

But just who are these “good people in Congress”? Are they those good Republicans who are making efforts to “negotiate” with the administration so we only lose a little of our freedom now and a little more next time?

Are they the ones who are trying to “compromise” with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid about just how much of our wealth they get to “spread around?” Or is it that they need to get some pork, too, so they’ll cooperate in robbing us blind and putting the shackles of debt on our children.

Where are the “good people in Congress” who are willing to say that this isn’t about Right and Left, it’s about Right and Wrong!

Yet it’s not all about Republicans. Both parties are betraying us.

Think about how few from either party even read the so-called Stimulus Bill or the Cap and Trade Bill or the Health Care Bill.

Perhaps you think these “good people in Congress” are in the Democratic Party. The “blue-dog” or “conservative” Democrats? Those who say that they’re fiscally responsible? The ones who claim that they’re protecting our freedoms?

Except that they need to cooperate with Pelosi, Reed and Obama to get re-elected. Or they need to knuckle under or they’ll lose their share of the pork.

Well it’s time for us to send a message to Washington. Not a long message. Not an email, not a petition, not an irate letter, not a telegram, not a smoke signal. We don’t need to march on Washington. We don’t need to march on our state capitals. We don’t need to march on city hall, or the county legislature.

But we do need to march. When? In November! Where? We need to march to our polling places to send our message.

And our message is short and simple: You’re Fired!

If we don’t have a government that respects us, if we don’t have a government that tells us the truth, that isn’t even willing to listen to the truth, if the government we have doesn’t have one shred of common sense, then it’s high time we got ourselves a new government.

No half measures, no negotiation, no accommodation, no compromises.

A new government that respects us, and protects us, our families, our jobs, our rights and our freedom!

One that listens first and foremost to what we say in the voting booth, and not what some special interest groups have to say.

The Tea Parties have some of the best and brightest people in the world among them.

They are the future government of America.

They are the ones who care enough to stand in the rain and cold if necessary, and don’t care what CNN, or MSNBC, or the New York Times has to say about them. Again, it’s not a question of right and left, it’s about right and wrong. Our government, as it stands right now, is seriously wrong.

We need to send people to Washington that “get it.”

Politicians are in love with the word “mandate.” Well, the people we elect next November should have a mandate. In fact, they will have several:

They will have a mandate to stop spending money that we don’t have.

They will have a mandate to stop trying to please everyone who might vote in the next election and start worrying about the ones who voted in the last election.

They will have a mandate to stop using our money to fund make-work jobs programs.

They will have a mandate to freeze all government civilian hiring, and let attrition take its toll on government headcount.

They will have a mandate to eliminate cost-of-living wage increases for all government workers.

They will have a mandate to eliminate all cost-of-living adjustments to transfer payments.

They will have a mandate to protect our borders.

Ideally, the people we elect to go to Washington should feel more like they were being sentenced to prison rather than feel like they just won the lottery.

Do you think people can be found who are willing to put up with all the garbage, lies and accusations that you know will be thrown at them when they start working to cut the government down to size? Yes we can.

I ran across something the other day seemed to really describe the people we need to send to Washington:

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently.

They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them. Disagree with them. Glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.

Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world … are always the ones who actually do!

And, finally, when Tea Party folks get fed up with being attacked by the main stream media and our honorable elected officials, they should just remember the words of Mahatma Gandhi:

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
