Just a Tiny Sliver of Silver

I try very hard to find the “silver lining” in every cloud, if for no other reason than psychological self-defense.

In thinking about the whole Hostess/Twinkies versus unions situation, it took me a long time to find the tiniest sliver of silver lining, but after much meditation (done while I was completely sober, I’ll have you know) I found it!

Once Twinkies are off the market, we will never, ever worry about some idiot lawyer trying to foist off a “Twinkie Defense” on another jury.

OK, it’s not much of a silver lining.  But it was the best I could come up with to help those of you worrying about going into Twinkie withdrawal.

  1. Holman Jenkins had a piece in Wednesdays WSJ, in which he explained why the Teamsters were much more to blame than the Bakers. Sounds like Bimbo will probably buy the brands. That Mexican company tried to buy Hostess before, at a price higher than the brands are currently valued. So all is not lost — Twinkies may return.
