Liberals, Progressives, Democrats, Ivy League socialists, global warming fanatics, gun control advocates, PETA, gay-rights advocates, Sandra Fluke supporters, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Lois Lerner, Occupy Wall Street squatters, the talking heads of MSNBC, Michael Bloomberg and scores of other groups and individuals confuse me.
Not that I’ve ever been accused of being the sharpest knife in the drawer, but when I see this mob (a) demand that we obey the strictures of the United States Constitution while they (b) simultaneously demand that we ignore the strictures of the same document, I get more than a bit confused.
Right now the State of Pennsylvania is up against various members of this group, who for the sake of brevity I shall refer to henceforth as the AABB (anti-American Bozo Brigade), who are suing to invalidate Pennsylvania’s voter ID law. Jennifer Clarke, executive director of the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia, said the law placed a “fundamental burden” on a right “enshrined in the Constitution.”
The AABB is simultaneously doing everything it can to eliminate private ownership of firearms by anyone not a member of the military or law enforcement. I cannot but think that the phrase “shall not be infringed” in the 2nd Amendment is also a right that has been “enshrined in the Constitution.”
I guess they just mean that “infringing” is not the same as a “placing a fundamental burden” on our rights. Or something like that, anyway.
