The deaths of nine people in the Charleston church by a young, mentally unbalanced person has led to endless political posturing trying to blame whites, Republicans, conservatives, the mentally ill, and whatever other sources of fabricated societal imperfections radical liberal Democrats can imagine.
Of course these very same Democrats, including our so-called president, blame the deaths on a lack of strong enough gun control laws. This is as if there is not one gun control law already on the books. Obviously there are scores of laws that are designed to limit access to any possession of guns. Oddly, though, these same laws simultaneously never seem to work properly. And by working properly it is meant that such gun-control laws will always prevent the use of guns by human beings to kill other human beings.
This situation, to be completely candid, terrifies me particularly in the context of the killer’s apparent mental illness.
Any rational person can tell that the next target the anti-gun liberals will name as a goal to be achieved will involve the psychiatric examination of each and every person who either applies to buy a gun or already owns a gun.
We’ve all seen again and again what happens with government actions to “help” us when we rely on the opinion of a government employee.
Just look at the question of exactly what is an “endangered” species?
Just look at the definition of an “oppressed minority”. Is the recently revealed white poser leading part of the NAACP actually someone who is oppressed? Do you believe for one millisecond that Sen. Elizabeth Warren led an oppressed life as a “minority member” before she was elected to the Senate?
How much confidence do you have any employees of the United States government that constantly testify that global warming is just around the corner?
When the political leadership in the White House (if that doesn’t seem to you to be a contradiction in terms) demand their employees report data that supports their personal view of reality are you confident that reality comports with what data shows or is reality warped to have the data show what the president wants?
So why would you think that a psychiatric examination of individuals that wish to purchase a firearm for the sole purpose of protecting themselves from criminals, or the mentally ill, would result in an objective evaluation of whether or not you, in fact, were the one who was crazy and therefore should be denied access to a gun?
