Too many times our colleagues from the Progressive wing of the “Can I Be Any Stupider Party” draft and pass legislation that claims to help protect the average American. In trying to sell the public on any of this legislation, exactly WHY it is needed is never stated openly. The underlying logic of Progressives is an assumption that only they themselves are competent to arrange and manage their own affairs. That’s simply a nice way of saying they think anyone who doesn’t send them a large check just before each election is a complete moron.
Obviously they think they are incapable of making a mistake, any mistake.
This empowers progressives to feel completely qualified to control everything in our lives from the most important to the most minuscule. They feel they should be able to control how much of what you earn you get to keep. They feel intelligent enough to never make a mistake in determining what food your child should be allowed to eat while in school. They believe that they can tell you what speed limit you should drive at. They determine what gender of individual you can marry and who should be required to bake cakes for the celebration thereof.
This degree of nonsensical micromanagement is a mere commonplace among Progressives.
Yet the woman who claims to be even smarter than everyone else, who knows more than everyone else, who is better qualified to make any and all of those decisions, just announced that she “made a mistake”.
You might want to pause here and gather yourself, perhaps sit down and allow your heart rate to subside, before reading any further.
Hillary Clinton, who leads the polls in the contest for the Democratic Party nomination for president of the United States, just admitted making a mistake. How can that be? How can someone that claims to be a Progressive make any mistake at all?
After all, aren’t Progressives supposed to be immune from the dangers of making a mistake? They will tell us, endlessly, that they are the smartest kids in town. They know better than you do about everything. They know what’s good for you, because, “they will NEVER make a mistake”.
Yet the leading light of the Democratic Party has admitted publicly, loudly, on videotape that she made a mistake. Hard to believe isn’t it? Shouldn’t that disqualify her immediately as a candidate for that nomination? If she could make a mistake regarding something as trivial as exposing classified intelligence material because of the sloppy handling of email, why would we trust her with something significantly more important?
Yet Hillary never, not once, explained how she could have made a mistake. How could someone who harangues us constantly how her intelligence (and of course her gender) entitle her to lead the most powerful, the wealthiest, the most innovative, and successful nation that has ever existed in the history of the planet. She harps on this over and over. She also makes plain to us that we, the common folk, are not competent, since we regularly make mistakes. Sadly, Hillary never justifies her claims that she couldn’t possibly make a mistake, while we will inevitably make mistakes.
Could it be, at least as a contributing factor, a weakness within our school system? Is our educational system so poor that mistakes are inevitable? Does Hillary think implementing the new Common Core syllabus throughout schools in all 50 states will eliminate mistakes?
Of course, fixing the educational system so that far, far fewer “mistakes” actually occur is desirable, isn’t it?
I’m sorry. I just realized that even saying that shows that my own education was so poor that I could even think such a thing. I should have realized immediately that Progressives really don’t want fewer mistakes to be made by the proverbial “man in the street”. If mistakes ever ceased to be made, or were even reduced in their frequency, we might begin to question the need for Progressive shepherds to see us through the difficulties of life.
The very idea that we could function independent of Progressives, must have them shaking in their boots. That would mean they could be replaced by people who might essentially tell the bulk of the citizens in this great country to “figure it out for yourselves”.
I suppose I’d better try to avoid saying such things out loud, or my left wing neighbors will simply shake their heads, look at me with unalloyed pity and tell me “Jim, my friend, you’re making a mistake again”.
